The Art of Living and Imagery

Online workshop

February  14, 2025, 7:00 – 9:30 pm CET
Follow up March 6, 6:30 pm CET

Imagery may not only give you an image of what motivates you deep inside, it can give you the means to influence it in an organic and creative way and to use it for your resilience and enjoyment in life. Imagery involves all the inner senses, the body and all kinds of expressive, creative means.

In this online lecture-workshop Jan Taal takes you through prehistory, neuropsychology and imagery experiences of people in the 21st century to the three stages of imagery. In the second part of the workshop you are invited to experience it yourself.

Everything we do in life is driven by the image of it. This inner world is the playing field of our drives, desires, possibilities and limitations. With imagery you can learn to navigate in it and gain access to your vital life sources. Art of living is using your vitality and creative abilities and applying them in the world in which you live.

The art of living is on the one hand ‘coordinating’ everything that influences and moves you from within, and on the other hand dealing with what you are confronted with in the outside world, the circumstances in which you live, your family, relationships and work, society, time, your history. In the deepest sense, the external world is the terrain that has been given to you, the domain to use your qualities and creative abilities. The first step is to get to know your inner world: your deepest motivations, core qualities and what may be in the way. Imagery is an excellent method for this, because it can bring you into contact with the deepest layers of your psyche.

The next step is: coordinating what lives and moves in you, by becoming a ‘skilled owner’ of it and bringing it into balance. As soon as a firm centre comes within yourself, your qualities and creative abilities can come to fruition. Clearing blockages or inhibitions is of course an essential part of this process. Applying your talents and creativity in everyday life and in the external world is the last step in the imagination process, the art of living in the practice of life.

Just as in our solar system there is the sun that gives us life, so in each of us there is a source for self-strengthening and realization. This can be compared to the roots and trunk of a tree from which branches, leaves and fruits continue to grow if they are given the chance. That vital creative source in us is our deep connection with life itself and with everything that exists, from others to every stone and drop of water.

About imagery

The ability to imagine is not something that is learned, we all have it, it is innate. After all, imagining is what humans do constantly, just like breathing, it is a core function of the psyche and continuously determines our behaviour and experience. Every action and every new step or development is driven by its image. Advertisers, influencers in every field and good teachers use it constantly. With imagery you can consciously give meaning and direction to your life.

In the second part of the workshop you are invited to experience it yourself. Various steps will be taken with imagery and there will be exchange with other participants and discussion and debate with the workshop leader.

During the follow up on March 6, participants will be invited to share their experiences and results.

Intended for both anyone interested and for professionals in coaching and therapy.
